In short
Buyer & seller representation
On and off-market search
Discretion throughout

As your broker we act for one side of a transaction, never both. For buyers we search on and off market, arrange sea trials and surveys, and negotiate on your behalf. For sellers we prepare a considered listing and qualify enquiries quietly.

Beyond the deal we can carry a yacht into full management, so ownership stays straightforward. Valuations and pre-purchase advice are available independently of any mandate.

Single-side representation

A broker who works both sides of a deal serves neither well. We act for one party only — the buyer or the seller — so our advice is never compromised by a competing interest. For a buyer that means negotiating hard on price and terms; for a seller it means defending the value of the yacht and qualifying enquiries before they reach you. Either way you know exactly whose side we are on, in writing, from the start.

This clarity matters most when the numbers are large and the market is opaque. Our judgement is yours alone, and we are paid for the outcome we deliver for you, not for simply closing a transaction at any price.

Buying a yacht: the process

We begin with a clear brief — size, type, budget, intended use and cruising grounds — then search both the open market and the off-market boats that never reach a listing. You receive a considered shortlist rather than a database dump, with honest notes on each yacht's strengths and weaknesses. We arrange viewings, a sea trial and an independent survey, then negotiate price and terms on your behalf.

From accepted offer to handover we manage the MYBA paperwork, the deposit held in escrow, the closing and the change of registration, coordinating lawyers and surveyors so nothing is missed. The aim is a purchase made with full knowledge and no surprises after the sale.

Selling your yacht

For sellers we start with a realistic valuation grounded in recent comparable sales, not a flattering number designed to win the mandate. We prepare a considered listing — professional photography, accurate specification, a clear history — and market it through the right channels and our own network, while qualifying enquiries quietly so your time is spent only on serious buyers.

Throughout, discretion is the default: a sale can be handled off-market where privacy matters, and we shield you from tyre-kickers and speculative low offers. We negotiate to protect your value and carry the transaction through survey, sea trial and closing.

Surveys, sea trials and due diligence

No serious purchase proceeds without an independent condition survey and, for larger yachts, a separate engine survey and sea trial. The survey checks hull, systems, safety equipment and structure; the sea trial confirms performance and handling under way. We appoint reputable, independent surveyors — never our own — and read their findings with you.

Where a survey turns up issues, we use them in negotiation, either to adjust the price or to have the owner remedy the defects before closing. Due diligence also covers title, outstanding finance, VAT status and class records, so you buy a clean asset.

Valuations and market advice

We provide independent valuations for purchase, sale, insurance or finance, grounded in real transaction data and current demand rather than wishful asking prices. If you are weighing whether to buy, sell or hold, we give a candid view of where the market sits for your type and size of yacht.

This advice is available on its own, independent of any sale mandate, so you can make a decision before you commit to a transaction. Good timing and a realistic price are worth more than any marketing.

Registration, flag and ownership

How a yacht is owned and flagged affects tax, crewing, cruising and resale. We guide you through the common flag states and ownership structures, working with your lawyers and tax advisers rather than replacing them, so the structure fits how and where you intend to use the yacht.

At closing we coordinate the change of registration, the transfer of any existing finance, and the handover of class and safety documentation, so ownership begins on a clean and correct footing.

From purchase to management

Buying the yacht is the start, not the end. We can carry a newly purchased yacht straight into full management — crew, maintenance, berths, budgets and compliance — so ownership stays straightforward from day one. The same desk that negotiated the purchase then runs the asset on your behalf.

For owners who prefer to offset costs, we can also place a suitable yacht into charter, balancing income against your own use and protecting the boat's condition and value throughout.

Why a Monaco brokerage desk

Monaco is the centre of gravity for the yachting world, and a brokerage based here works inside it every day. We know the yachts that lie in Port Hercule and along the coast, the managers and captains who look after them, and the buyers and sellers who move quietly without ever appearing in a public listing. That proximity is what surfaces the right off-market boat or the discreet buyer when it matters.

It also means we can act quickly and in person — a viewing arranged the same week, a sea trial off the principality, a closing handled face to face. Combined with charter and management under the same roof, it makes us a single, accountable point of contact for the whole life of a yacht, from the purchase through to the day you decide to sell.

Frequently asked questions

Do you represent buyers or sellers?

Both, but never on the same transaction. We act for one side only — buyer or seller — so our advice is never compromised by a competing interest. Whose side we are on is agreed in writing from the start.

How is a yacht broker paid?

Brokerage is typically a commission on the sale, customarily paid by the seller on MYBA terms, and agreed in the mandate before any work begins. Independent valuations and pre-purchase advice can be arranged separately, outside any sale mandate.

How long does buying a yacht take?

From a clear brief to closing, a straightforward purchase often runs a few weeks to a couple of months, depending on survey scheduling, negotiation and registration. Off-market searches for a specific yacht can take longer; we keep the process moving without rushing due diligence, and we keep you updated at every stage so you always know what happens next.

Do I need a survey before buying?

Yes. We always recommend an independent condition survey, plus an engine survey and sea trial for larger yachts. We appoint reputable independent surveyors — never our own — and use any findings to renegotiate price or have defects remedied before closing.

Can you help with registration and flag?

Yes. We guide you through flag states and ownership structures alongside your lawyers and tax advisers, and coordinate the change of registration, finance transfer and documentation handover at closing so ownership starts cleanly.
